Eh, I started to post a bit about Mom - either there’s some organic brain damage from her previous round of cancer treatment (my suspicion,) or she’s just plain bonkers (paranoid, weird.) But that’s a whole 'nother can of worms, and really, outside of my general concern. But it does raise some extra concerns for the Kid involved. ---

FUCK DEATH. I’m done. We’re not even all the way through March, and I’ve had enough. First Dad. (Then Leonard Nimoy.) Then Husband’s Best Friend’s Mom. Then I heard about an old friend’s (who I haven’t seen for a while) Mom. Then today - a long time SCA friend and mentor, and household member, unexpectedly. She just posted on Facebook on Monday. This is not to mention the several others I’ve heard about of friends-of-friend’s parents/siblings/loved ones, plus several other celebrities. I am so over it. I know it’s it’s inevitable and all that, but FUCK DEATH. I’ve had more than my share for one whole year, and it’s only March. I’m done. ---

The relocation from hell is ongoing. Two months ago, I got notice of the rent increase for my now-former apartment. It was going up a lot, and I wasn’t going to pay what they were asking. So I stayed a little past the end of the lease, but then they found someone who wanted to rent the unit, sooo… I didn’t think it would be difficult to find an apartment in my price range with my few requirements (it wasn’t when I last apartment-hunted!), but apparently when I wasn’t looking a big price jump happened in the area and the housing market got tighter. Dammit. I complained about this on Facebook. After reading this, a friend called me and said that she and her husband had a condo that they rented out. Their kid lived in it when he was in college, but he graduated last year and moved out of state. I went out and looked at it and it’s cute! BUT, with their schedules, they can’t get it cleaned out until May 1. I’m currently in an extended stay hotel, and it’s okay but expensive. So I 'm looking into furnished “corporate housing” (about half the cost of where I am now), or seeing if I can work something out with my friend where I’d move a few of my things in (bed, clothes) and help them pack (I’m really good at packing; I was a military brat). Sigh. This was not the best-planned move I’ve ever done. So I’m pitting myself. ☹ ---

My things are in storage (except clothes, cats, cat scratching posts, and a few pots/pans. If I used the furniture that’s already there (sofa, dining room table, etc.) while packing, not a big deal. Besides, you never know unless you ask/offer, right? 😃 Either way, I will get through it one way or the other. It just has not gone as smoothly as most moves I’ve coordinated. When I moved from FL to Massachusetts, I had what was essentially a project plan with dates and dependencies and contact information, all housed in a 3-ring-binder, FFS! ---

Why is Chrome suddenly jumping back up the page when I click for the most recent post I haven’t read yet? It’s getting more than a little annoying having to scroll down the page to find where I left off. Doesn’t happen with Firefox. ---

Why is some guy having a long phone conversation in the stairwell of the hotel where I’m saying? (Said stairwell is next to my room.) I’m about ready to start commenting on his conversation (which I can hear clearly). You know where people hang out in hallways and stairwells? Tenements. Not decent hotels, not decent apartment buildings. Tenements. Go to your fucking room and talk, or go to one of the actual gathering places in the hotel. Stop making me listen to your stupid conversation. Note: I realize I may be a little unreasonable. I woke up with a migraine, and this guy is talking at full volume. These things do not play well together. I figure that ranting here might be better than yelling at the guy. ---
