March Madness 2026

All Duke had to do was hold on to the ball and then make a free throw or two. Terrible turnover.

Even though it may have cost me winning a pool that I’m in, I am quite okay with Duke losing.

I’m a Michigan fan and this was close to the time-out from Webber, though in that case they were losing. This was a huge error.

Wow! What an ending to that Duke/UCONN game.

I’m not a hard a fast fan of college sports in general, but I always enjoy the Final Four tournament. I was rooting for UCONN, because I grew up in New England and Duke just wins too much. All through the first half - and most of the second half - my dad kept quipping (mostly jokingly), “It’s over; they lost; no way they come back; they’re awful.”

You should have heard us whooping it up when that kid sank that three-pointer from waaaaay downtown. Almost like the game actually mattered to us.

Fun night of TeeVee watching.

Not to piss in your cornflakes, but UConn has now been in three of the last four Final Fours.

Duke has 5 championships, the most recent in 2015.

UConn has 6, including back-to-back in 2023 and 2024. Only Kentucky and UCLA have more.

Cheering for UConn because Duke “wins too much” is irony of the highest order. And I say that as someone who dislikes Duke pretty intensely!

Ok. They won too much. There. Fixed it.

Seriously though, like I said, I’m not a hard and fast fan. I’m going off of history … and what I knew of college basketball from twenty years ago.

That’s a great point. In the past, one reason I rooted hard against Duke was because of Coach K. He’s gone, and I’ve not yet developed an intense dislike for their current coach, Jon Scheyer.

But I have developed an EXTREMELY intense dislike for UConn’s coach, Dan Hurley. He is, without a doubt, the most insufferable bastard in college basketball today. I will be rooting hard for Illinois to beat them on Saturday. (Of course, if Illinois loses that game, I have no chance to win the tourney pool that I entered. Go Illini!)

In my defense, Duke was a 1 seed and UCONN was a 2 seed.

Oh, I totally get it @Jack_Batty - I was rooting for Connecticut too. I just have to mentally correct myself when I fall into the “Duke wins too much” narrative. That may have been true in the 90s but UConn has been much more successful lately.

Then again, I’m a Kansas fan, so I can’t really be too critical of any of the “blue blood” programs.

But my interest in college basketball is pretty much gone, and will likely remain that way until they figure out what kind of system it’s actually going to be. This “pay the players under the table” method is the worst of all worlds, in my opinion.

Does produce some great moments from time to time though!

That was the biggest bonehead play since Bill Buckner.

I was thrilled when UConn disposed of Duke because, as someone who not only went to Kentucky, but was a student when Christian Laettner committed his foul deed, I despise Duke. But as much as I appreciated UConn’s angelic deed, I had to turn right around and root against them because a victory would nudge them even closer to Kentucky’s number of championships. I guess that I view the Huskies as though I’m the shadowy boss in a spy movie, and they’re an assassin that I’ve hired to do a job, but then I say, “Your usefulness has come to an end!” or something like that and then have THEM capped.

31-0 and still not safe is crazy… honestly just shows how important that conference tournament is, one bad game and it’s over.

Have you watched the ESPN 30 for 30 episode, *I Hate Christian Laettner*? You probably have.

Kentucky should have guarded Grant Hill on the sidelines as he threw that long uncontested inbound pass to Laettner.

I have no interest in that episode. I think it might have been on one of the TVs at the gym once when I was working out, but I made a point to look elsewhere. The problem is, watching that episode would necessarily involve having to look at his big, dumb face for extended periods of time, and that’s the opposite of what I want to do. Bleah.

As a Michigan fan, we hated him, too. I believe, though, he ended up playing for the PIstons briefly. Forgive and forget.
