So do the straps that hold the mask in place and the tiny cloth filters most machines use. ---

I just asked him. He is certain it’s not on the order of 3ish months, he’s closer to six and will double check but he actually has it in his head that it’s every 12. I’m thinking it’s probably a combination depending on the part and he’s not quite doing the right thing! I’ll try to help him sort it out this weekend. ---

Yahoo News claims that ‘The Ark of The Covenant’ was found and recovered. I’ll list the article ( yes, they ran this story ) but I think that it is total BS. I mean… come on…! Who found it, Yahoo News? The care instructions I was given when I got my CPAP, in addition to regular washing of the mask, hose, and water tank, was that the mask and filter needed to be replaced every two weeks. In addition, the hose and water tank get replaced every six months. ---

With my CPAP, the company sends a replacement mask, straps and hose every 3 months. The little component of the mask that fits under my nostrils is replaced every two weeks. The water chamber on the CPAP is every 3 or 6 months. And yes, regular weekly washing and drying of the hose and whole face mask. The nostril part gets wiped with an unscented baby every morning (theoretically). ---

Well he’s definitely not doing all that! I’m sure the concern is bacterial growth and related health issues, and _so far_ he’s had no issues. I’m not able to look over the paperwork today, but I intend to do so. ---

Two good friends of mine each lost a beloved parent today. One of them came to my house to hang out, visit pets (we’re both addicted to animals) and just get away for a bit, the other is continuing with her hobby in a workshop of sorts. It’s been a somber day but I’m glad I could be an ear for both of them. And it makes the annoying head cold I came down with yesterday seem like nothing. ---

We’ve been thru this before but self checkout sucks for a cart full of groceries. I have no problem using them for a handful of items but when it’s a (extra big, stockup) weekly shopping, nope. When I walked in there were a couple of people in line at the deli so I went thru the aisles; when I came back they told me they were closed despite two people being back there. This altered the meal planning that was already in my cart. Then when I got up front they only had one person working the self-checkouts. He said he would help me. Ummm, how you gonna help me, I know how to use them & you can’t magically create more space. I would still have had most of a cartful when it was time to place the first bag back in the cart. There’s a reason the regular checkouts have a long conveyor belt both before & after the cashier & I’ve never seen that at a self checkout before. When I told him, “there’s cold stuff in that cart that you better put away before it goes bad.” & started to walk towards the door it’s amazing how quickly they found someone to ring me up. This was between 7-8pm tonight; If you’re going to be open for business, be properly staffed. ---

The first two “friend” candidates Facebook is pushing at me today are 1) a capybara, and 2) a young woman posing in front of an American flag while holding a rifle. At least the capybara and I already have one mutual friend. ---

I live in Western NC. I am very sick of smoke. There are at least five wildfires within air-quality-destroying distance to me right now. Thank whatever spirits that be that it’s finally started raining. Or at least I was happy until one of my co-workers brought up the possibility of mudslides from all the freshly denuded slopes. When the hell did I move to California? ---
