Marco Rubio presidential campaign discussion thread.

So falls another, leaving but 2 to fall next in sequence before the Trump Zeitgeist. Prolly Kasich next. I can assure you that however obscure the others were to non-Americans, he is the most unheard-of of them all.

And finally Cruz will bow the head and concede to The Master.
The GOP knows none of the above save Trump can — or ever could — beat Mrs. Clinton’s machine; yet since they detest him far more than they do her, and her social and economic positions are essentially in tune with the GOP — saving a couple of things like the Supreme Court — and famously she can work with them as an experienced operator, the only way they can ‘win’, however Pyrrhically, 'The World Well Lost ', is to cede to Mrs. Clinton and combine her and their resources to defeat the People’s Darling and save the capitalist state.

Yea, I don’t think Rubio is going to convince people to take him seriously in four years as an out of work one-term Senator who got wrecked in the primary by a reality TV star.

Plus, he presumably knew this was a possibility when he announced he was giving up his Senate seat. So I suspect he already decided he doesn’t want to make another run, or remain in politics. He’ll go find some nice conservative think-tank somewhere.

It is known.

Rubio needs to figure out a reality TV show plot for him and his family to keep him in the public eye. Unfortunately the title The Biggest Loser" has already been taken.

Maybe he could do one of those disgusting reality shows where folks eat increasingly gross things in an elimination tournament.

You gotta admit, the guy’s already made one heck of an audition tape during that debate.

Ooh! Ooh! Mister Kotter! How about a water-drinking contest? He can’t lose!

Maybe a sitcom. There’s been a dearth of good multi-camera sitcoms of recent decades. The last real success was possibly How I Met Your Mother, although the laugh-track was pretty brutal.
In Monk, a semi-sitcom itself, there was one such show that had obsessed Mr. Monk from the '70s on, depicting a happy semi-demented All-American family of that innocent time. Something like that would suit him and them down to the ground,

He won’t do well in a pissing contest.

Hmmm… that reminds me of a possibly suitable vehicle. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Brendan Frasier movie “A Blast From the Past”, but it’s perfect for him. A family with a survivalist dad thinks a nearby plane crash is the start of global nuclear war, and they go down to their bomb shelter and lock themselves away for, I dunno, 20-30 years.

When is the Florida Senate primary? Now that Little Marco is out of the Presidential race, can he run for his Senate seat, or is it too late to file?

He’d lose at this point. He’s already expressed a disinterest in his job.

No, if Rubio doesn’t get the VP nomination his obvious next step is to be governor of Florida. I don’t think anyone serious even wants the job in either party heading into 2018, so it’s pretty much there for the taking if he wants it.

Maybe if he hadn’t run for President. But he just lost in each and every county of Florida, except Miami-Dade. I wouldn’t bet on him getting the nom now, let alone the office.

You could be right. Rubio only won his Senate seat in a three man race where the Democrats abandoned their own candidate. I guess it depends on how well he learns from his failure. One of our greatest young politicians ever was a disaster early in his career and learned such good lessons from that failure that he became a very successful President. If Rubio is as talented as some say, he’ll bounce back quick, Or he could be just a pretty face with no substance and fade into obscurity.

FWLIW, Rubio says he’s not interested in being Veep: Republican Marco Rubio not making a play for 2016 vice presidency

The job’s too much work for him?

Doubt it. Scott spent $100 million to defeat Crist in 2014, nearly a quarter of it in the last week before the polls opened. That money reversed Crist’s 1% edge. Rubio is not going to have that sort of cash behind him; Norm Branam is presumably not going to keep throwing money at him.
