I had an _eighteen-year-old_ ginger girl die two years ago. She was one of those kitties who do the snuggly wrigglies and squeak and chatter. I was prepared for her, you know, even though two months before she passed she was jumping onto the tops of _doors_ because my life needed more excitement. She weighed six pounds and she bitchslapped _much_ bigger cats and dogs like it was her job. It was my seven-year-old guy who really destroyed me. Two months after my ginger girl…Ugh. I cannot talk about him. I know _exactly_ why you took in that kitty. You wanted a poor animal to feel love and warmth and comfort and safety, even though giving him comfort and peace was bought with your grief in the end. Cats (and the women, especially, who love them) get maligned in a way that male dog owners don’t. Hospice for shelter animals is pure kindness. Go look up “Flatbush Cats” on youtube. They are a rescue that produces the most mellow and gentle videos about TNRing and fostering kitties, narrated by the most laid back of men and backed by gentle, jazzy music. It’s good for the soul. ---
