I loved her casting as Lois Lane. Superman, an alien who is essentially a god and can expect perfection, has as his highest aspiration to be human. Instead of choosing a supermodel or a scientist, he chooses this flawed woman. She smokes, she’s a writer but can’t spell, she’s awkward, but she’s also brave, resourceful and clever. She is what he finds charming about his adopted humanity. She is what being human represents to him. The secret identity thing is him wanting to impress her as Superman, but also wanting her to love him for who he really is. It’s ultimately futile in that once he does establish a relationship with her, she can’t handle it. He is doomed to be alone. Superman 1 and 2 are ultimately a sad story.

Well said. She really was fantastic in that role.

I remember seeing her Playboy spread in the early 70s. One of the captions read something like Margot Kidder has more curves than the Santa Monica FReeway. Nice turn of phrase, that.

Margot was very good in the Amityville Horror.

I know her bipolar condition was challenging. But I always hoped she’d return to acting.

How sad that her death has turned out to be suicide. She was a good actress and evidently an admirable person as well.
