# Marijuana - Legalize It?

What do I mean by restricted? Mainly that any adult would be able to possess, buy, and cultivate small amounts legally, but it would not be merchandised like a normal consumer product. Instead, it would be kept under lock and key, and you would have to ask for it, much like with tobacco (at least in California). No advertising at all, or sales to minors.

One thing to consider in this area is that anti-marijuana enforcement these days is really being carried on by the private sector, through the use of drug tests as a condition of employment. I don’t approve of that any more than I do governmental prohibition, but that’s a bridge that can be crossed later.
