# Markerwaard Polder, Netherlands

In U. S. atlases published as far back as 1950, three polders in the IJsselmeer (the former Zuider Zee) were delimited so as to show they were under construction or projected. More recent atlases show two of them, South and East Flevoland, as having been completed, but the western one–Markerwaard–is still “projected,” according to my Hammond atlas, which went to press in 1995. Has Markerwaard yet been completed?
