That looked like, “Everyone, take this hijack somewhere else” to me, not favouring **Lekatt**. Lekatt’s a one-trick-pony, and in my experience, they are allowed to continue posting here, but they get moderated in a big damn hurry when they get back on their favourite hobby-horse. ---

I do as well, but I feel that **Marley** and **Tomndebb** are working at cross purposes. There’s not much point creating a new thread to quarantine **Lekatt** ’s sidetracks and then closing that thread, unless you’re going to take some other action to stop **Lekatt** going back to posting as usual. ---

Sorry to have rained on everyone’s parade. [http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=12314799#post12314799](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=12314799#post12314799) **lekatt** is not capable of discussing science and he is under a specific ban from posting claims of “science” regarding the afterlife that link to anecdotes (particularly anecdotes stored on his own website). Pehaps it would be better if we did simply ban him, but he has been posting, off and on, for a couple of years without violating that stricture and I am reluctant to propose banning someone for mere incompetence. He is incapable of understanding what actual science involves and is further incapable of understanding why his few stints as a technician in a science related (but not scientific) field has failed to prepare him to understand scientific inquiry. All his death related threads wind up with both sides throwing the same claims at each other and eventually turn into Pit-lite threads. Several posters want him banned just on the grounds of stupidity and several others enjoy baiting him into violating the rules against insults. Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt (and the gaping, festering chest wound). We don’t have the time to babysit his threads 24/7. If anyone wants to see each of his arguments that have not yet been posted in the Schiavo thread or the thread I just closed, just call up his old threads. There is never anything new in them. He is not going to change. I am not going to ban him when he can post on other topics without getting into trouble. Arguing with him regarding death or science is futile. If someone wants to recommend banning him, then propose your own cogent argument for doing so (that will persuade a majority of the staff to support your motion). Until then, ignoring him makes a lot more sense than having alarums and excursions everytime he posts nonsense. (There are a number of posters who submit more nonsense than sense who are routinely ignored. I don’t know why everyone has such a hard time ignoring one more source of silliness.) ---

Agreed. I was going to do **lekatt** ’s homework for him, and I tracked down a peer-reviewed journal for near death experiences. I did a Dope search to see if [the Journal of Near-Death Studies](http://www.iands.org/pubs/jnds/index.php) had been mentioned yet. It came up in a couple of older threads. Honestly, just from context, I couldn’t tell which thread I was reading… today’s or one of the ones from years ago. ---

Seeing as he does not particpate in The Pit, and people frustrated by him outside of the pit may wish to express their concerns to him, I suggest restricting him to posting in the pit for a month or so. ---

This is not that argument. However, any society truly dedicated to fighting ignorance would long ago have subjected \*\*lekatt \*\* to a war crimes tribunal. In the physical world, one could at least arrest him for loitering, but here he is given free reign to continue marking his territory with intellectual hobo urine, year after year, until his second (or is it third?) appointment with his maker, provided he remembers never to slip up and say “cunt.” ---
