I just finished reading ‘Marley & Me, life and love with the worlds worst dog’, [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060817089/sr=8-1/qid=1140909868/ref=pd\_bbs\_1/103-5078851-6652638?\_encoding=UTF8](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060817089/sr=8-1/qid=1140909868/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-5078851-6652638?%5Fencoding=UTF8)

No one will ever call it great literature, but it was a sweet, sweet story, and I was weeping openly at the end.

Anyone else read it?

Yup. And I was bawling.

Many of Marley’s health problems were exactly the same as Mike’s, my old dog. He loved to get into the garbage, went deaf, deathly farts. I saw a hell of a lot of Mike in there, and I spent the last 1/3 of the book with tears streaming down my face.

My wife didn’t know whether to laugh at me or give me a ‘told you so’ for buying it in the first place.

I finished it about two weeks ago and get verklempt thinking about it. I’ve had two lab mixes (one still with me), and it struck home. The writing was well done, I thought, and a good story about a man and his dog.

I didn’t read the book aloud to Joplin. I didn’t want to give him ideas (“hmmm, chewing through the walls – I haven’t thought of that!”) though he’s 9 and SHOULD be past all that.
