No, you can’t assume that, because he’s lied about one thing, he’s automatically lied about a completely unrelated thing.

What can, and should, be done is to investigate anything there’s reasonable suspicion he lied about.

So the audio from Zimmerman’s jail conversations has been[released](http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/06/18/1100293/-Prosecution-releases-audio-tapes-in-George-Zimmerman-murder-case).

And in case anyone is thinking GZ is laying in bed at night, feeling guilty, sad, and/or remorseful about his actions on the night in question…please think again. People who regret taking someone’s life generally don’t say stuff like this:

> [@](#):
>
> “Ah, you’re so good,” said George Zimmerman, who then discussed resetting a password on one of his accounts.
> “Don’t worry, cutie,” said Shellie Zimmerman, who later added that her husband’s website was crashing because of the amount of people logging in to show their support.
>
> “That feels good … that there are people in America that care,” George Zimmerman said. “That is awesome. I need to talk to O’Mara about getting the word out because those people need to start vocalizing themselves.”
>
> \*\*“After this is all over, you’re going to be able to just have a great life,” Shellie Zimmerman said.
>
> “We will,” George Zimmerman replied. “I’m excited.”\*\*
>
> “Yeah, you should be. You should be excited,” Shellie Zimmerman said.

(bolding mine)

Too bad Martin won’t be able to have the exciting life the Zimmerman’s are looking foward to having.

This dialogue helps confirm in my mind that 1) his wife doesn’t need Zimmerman’s permission to sacrifice herself for this “cause” and 2) Zimmerman will never plea bargain. He has his fans to think about, yo. And his exciting life.

Zimmerman, having been proven to have lied once, likely lost a great deal of credibility and I think this will hurt him in his trial.

How is the bond hearing testimony about funds available to Zimmerman admissible in the trial?

No, Zimmerman was locked up after his bail was revoked for lying to the court about the tens of thousands of dollars he received from his fans. I imagine that if he had followed the law, much like if he had followed the Neighbourhood Watch guidelines and the advice of the 911 dispatcher, he would probably be a free man today.

Zimmerman was locked up before he lied to the court. You can’t say, “No…” in response to a claim that Zimmerman was locked up for defending himself by claims he was locked up for lingo the court. He was initially locked up for what he says was defending himself – right?

“I’m excited” doesn’t sound like a man that is frightened, frustrated, or upset. It is easy to get the impression he thinks this is the best thing ever to happen to him. Like a lotto winner.

We don’t know he was defending himself. When someone shoots an unarmed man to death, is it inappropriate to arrest and hold him (with the opportunity for bail) until due process is served?

He did fdollow the advice of the 911 dispatcher, who told Zimmerman to keep an eye on Martin. Zimmerman said okay. How was he gtoing to keep an eye on Martin if Martin ran away? So Zimmerman followed him. The dispatcher heard the heavy breathing, realized Zimmerman was running, and advised him not to. Zimmerman said okay, and the heavy breathing and wind whistling past the phone ceased, so he was obeying the dispatcher. If the dispatcher had told Zimmerman that they didn’t need him anymore, the police would take over, there might have been a different outcome.

I find it hard to imagine any life so unpleasant that what’s happening to Zimmerman now is the best thing contained in it. Being optimistic about the future is a way of defending ones sanity in an unpleasant situation, even more so when that situation is, or at least is perceived as, undeserved.

1. Your observation isn’t relevant. I was commenting on the sequence of events – WHY he was locked up.

2. It can be inappropriate, yes. In Florida, a person is immune from being locked up unless police determine that there is probable cause he used illegal force.

If there’s no risk of flight or of him committing further crimes, yes. They are the only legitimate reasons for holding someone who’s awaiting trial. Not that it usually happens that way.

Being optimistic is

“Everything will work out” or
“I’m sure everything will be okay after all this blows over” or
“I’m going to stay positive” or
“God will see us through these trials or tribulations”.

GZ said none of this. He’s actually expressed _excitment_ about what’s happening to him right now. The guy is filled with happy anticipation about the great life he’s going to have, despite the fact a teenager is dead as a direct result of his actions. That he said this in context of his growing bank account is a strong indication of what his priorities in life are.

Most sane people would never be “excited” after being charged with 2nd degree murder. Even if they thought it was a bogus charge. Scratch that: _Especially_ if they thought it was a bogus charge. The only reason GZ is excited is because he thinks he going to profit from this in some way. Celebrity, money, respect. He was talking like a man whose fantasies were all coming true for him. I guess the whole perjury thing threw a monkey wrench into the mix, though.

Zimmerman has been slandered by a major news outlet and threatened by the New Black Panthers which is really just the Klu Klux Klan with a better tan. He told his wife to buy bullet proof vests for both of them plus their lawyer. Finding out he has people who support him instead of the steady flow of hatred he’s had to endure is hardly something to look forward to.

It was his wife who pro-offered encouragement where none existed before. Even if he walks away with a clean record his life in this country is over and they both know that.

And that’s a law we both disagree with, so that means we both believe that said procedure is not appropriate. If you’re going to start saying that it was appropriate that he wasn’t arrested, and self-defense being an affirmative defense, then I am going to have to take back saying that you convinced me to agree with you.

No, it isn’t, not if you understand even the slightest about human psychology. That’s denial. Pure, unfettered denial. He knows that everything is going to suck so he’s trying to look at the bright side. Whether this means he really thinks he’ll be convicted, I don’t know, but **Magiver** is right that his life, even if acquitted, is over. He’s hated more than Casey Anthony was. There is a significant portion of this country that will never accept a not guilty verdict. The money is the only thing that might make it palatable.

And, remember, I’m on your side in all of this. I think Zimmerman is guilty.
