I got that part. The funny part is why GZ would get out of his car to see something which is designed to be seen from inside vehicles when by virtue of him being a driver he knows that street signs are commonly visible from within a vehicle. And why he would think that a street sign would be somewhere other than an intersection.

> [@Shodan](#):

> Zimmerman wanted to meet the police at the spot where he lost contact with Martin. The further he goes from there, the harder it would be to backtrack.

It would have been harder for GZ to “backtrack” to the sidewalk cut-through if he had driven 90yds to the corner?

GZ anticipated the difficulty of finding his way from the corner of the block back to the sidewalk cut-through in the middle of the block?

And this was a factor in GZ’s decision to instead to exit his vehicle to look for a street sign on foot in the middle of the block?

GZ was felt that it would be significantly easier to backtrack from across the block on foot rather than to drive back from the corner?

But you know waht? the comparison between the two choices isn’t really presented by GZ. He says that crossing the block was an afterthought to his exiting the vehicle.

GZ says he exited the vehicle to find a street sign in the middle of the block. And somehow there was no street sign where there was no intersection. So he then decided to walk across the block.

So his decision, as he tells it, would have been between driving to the end of the block where street signs are known to be and looking for a street sign on foot in the rain where street signs are not known to be.

According to GZ, deciding to cross the block was a decision which came after he failed to find a street sign in the middle of the block. So he made no choice between driving to the corner and walking across the block. He would have chosen between driving to the corner and looking for a street sign in the middle of the block. As he tells it anyway.

He certainly didn’t kill the person with stone washed blue jeans and red shoes, Zimmerman’s original description of the person who looked suspicious???

The famous adage is not to attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. Zimmerman never struck me as the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. He was looking for anything he could use to pinpoint his location so the cops could meet him. It might be more than one can expect that Zimmerman could accurately predict at a moment’s notice where a street sign is likely to be found, especially behind the townhouses.

No doubt my own experience is affecting my perspective, but I walk my dog thru my subdivision. And there are all kinds of Roads that turn into Bays or Circles or Alcoves or double back and connect ro other Roads and change their names for a while.

It would have been harder for Zimmerman and the cops to find Martin, the further they went from the place where Martin was last spotted.

Yes. He was looking for some way to tell the police exactly where to meet him, that was not too far from where Martin “got away”. That does not sound to me either malicious or suspicious.

Plus, we can reasonably establish that Zimmerman did not get out of his truck to chase Martin. Both Zimmerman’s testimony, and Martin (as reported by Dee Dee) was that Martin and Zimmerman lost contact with each other.

Which is part of the reason why I find it puzzling that much significance is attached to Zimmerman looking for a street sign/house number. As mentioned, it is possible to nitpick testimony from anyone - even if they are telling the truth.

Shodan

you’re keep making a non-point. He’s not claiming this is the only reason he got out of the car. He talks about chasing Martin in the same video. There is no way a prosecutor can claim this is the main reason for getting out of the car. It’s a one sentence clarification in court. He got out of the car to chase Martin and looked for a street sign as he stepped out. End of discussion. There is no credibility issue that can possibly be made from this.

> Prior to the part you mention, the 911 dispatcher asks Zimmerman for the address where he was. Zimmerman says he did not know the street name, and that, since he was at the back of the townhouses, no address numbers were visible. So he gets out of the truck (allegedly) to find a street sign or something so he can give an exact location. So the police can meet him.

Actually, there are house numbers _right in front of him_.
[http://tinyurl.com/ajxkt49](http://tinyurl.com/ajxkt49) (JPG)

[http://tinyurl.com/ap2tocl](http://tinyurl.com/ap2tocl) (JPG)

He already gave the address for the clubhouse, so clearly the dispatch has an address and a map in front of him…

Secondly - surely George wasn’t interested in shooting (sorry) the breeze with two flatfoots, he wanted ‘em to find the effin’ punk who was getting away. George thought Martin was running towards the back entrance. If he was interested in tracking him, why didn’t he just keep on driving down towards the back entrance? Surely that would be the most logical place to go, especially since there’s an intersection there and if George really really did want a street name, that’s where he’d find one.

> [@Shodan](#):
>
> It sounds like the kind of trivial detail that it is natural to be unclear about. To seize on it and use it to decide that therefore Zimmerman shot Martin in cold blood seems a bit on the further side of exaggerated.

No - it’s the kind of trivial detail that you’d _never get wrong_ unless you were being less than truthful about your actions and/or intentions. Getting out of the car to look for a sign is ridiculous. Looking for a house number makes no sense - there was one right in front of him, and the number was lit up at night - see the little lamp by the number? I’ll track down the picture of the crime scene the night of the shooting - it shows front of the houses, clearly lit.

> [@Shodan](#):
>
> It is very rare that an innocent person’s account of an incident is 100% accurate in every detail.

Who’s asking for 100% total recall, down to the second? We’re pointing out clear and obvious inconsistencies that drive right to the heart of the story.

Just for starters

- his version of events doesn’t match the timing of the actual dispatch recording

- there is not enough time for Martin to do all the walking he did + circling the car + gangsta-skipping away etc

- George insisting that he got out of the truck to ‘look for a street sign’ and spent two minutes ‘looking for a house address’ is both completely illogical and contradicts the phone call.

- there is the unexplained approx. two-minute gap between the end of the phone call and the witness 911 calls that George has not explained what he was doing.

- George has not explained how it is possible for him to a) completely trap Martin’s left hand & arm with his right arm, and with the same right arm draw his gun from the holster which was behind and underneath him, pull it out, aim and shoot a perfect shot in the chest…even though Martin’s _right_ arm would have been completely free. Lie down on your back with your wallet in your right back pocket. Now try to pull your wallet out while holding a book to your side with your arm. You’re scared for your life, remember, so if you let go of the book you’re dead. Good luck with that.

- He says he was going back to his truck, says that Martin snuck up behind him and…totally ruined the element of surprise by talking to George.

- He says he was going back to his truck, got surprised by Martin sneaking up behind him, and his first reaction was to…pull out his phone and start dialing the police. Imagine a robber who you think might be armed breaks into your home while you’re on the couch. Are you really going to pull out your phone to call the police while the robber is right in fucking front of you???

- George says he was walking -west towards his truck, was approached from behind from the southeast, backed up towards the west towards his truck, was punched in the nose which would have pushed him further to the west…yet he falls \*forward \*and towards the south.

- George initially says the first punch knocked him down. When he gets to the video walkthrough the next day and realizes it makes no sense based on where the body ended up, he then changes this to ‘stumbling’ and such 50 feet down the path, again away from his truck.

And that’s just some of the major ones off the top of my head.

Wow, this thread is old! I thought justice delayed was justice denied etc, but just how long does it take to prepare a court case in the US? This is ridiculous that it’s taken so long.

I recently saw some photos on tv of GZ’s head, clearly showing bleeding and injuries on the back of his head, and a badly smashed nose. Had they come out at the time, I doubt we’d even be discusing a court case now.

The danger now is that there may be pressure to try him regardless of being under the remit of “stand your ground”.
Perhaps the police’s first decision was the correct one?

he’s not at the clubhouse and the addresses in front of him have no street name. We have the phone call as evidence that he didn’t know the street name.

Why didn’t he do this, why didn’t he do that? That’s not an argument. He got out of the car to chase Martin. Looking around for a street sign doesn’t change that. It’s background information that shows he’s trying to provide a location.

looking for a house number at the end of the sidewalk makes perfect sense. He knows the name of that street because he lives on it.

It was never meant to. He clearly fills in detail not in linear order in the video.

yes there was. We’ve gone over this.

> [@DragonAsh](#):
>

You mean the phone call where he chases after Martin which is heard by a witness. He walks to the street and back. That can’t be done in 2 minutes? Explain.

> [@DragonAsh](#):
>
> - there is the unexplained approx. two-minute gap between the end of the phone call and the witness 911 calls that George has not explained what he was doing.

He’s looking for Martin. How hard is that to understand? Do you think he put his hands over his ears and closed his eyes and counted to 100 waiting for the police?

> [@DragonAsh](#):
>

There was a fight, verified by witnesses, injuries and the sounds of screaming on the phone. During the struggle he grabbed his gun. The gun was not in his back pocket. It was holstered where he could grab it. As for perfectly aiming it’s almost impossible to miss someone a foot away from you.

> [@DragonAsh](#):
>
> - He says he was going back to his truck, says that Martin snuck up behind him and…totally ruined the element of surprise by talking to George.

Yes and? Zimmerman didn’t say he was punched from behind in surprise. There was a brief conversation which is backed up by Dee Dee’s testimony that resulted from a punch to the nose which is backed up by the physical evidence.

For starters he wasn’t at home sitting on his couch. Sorry it bothers you that he didn’t pull the gun out first and shoot Martin.

He said he stumbled around. Sorry if he didn’t stagger in your preferred direction.

Again, sorry he didn’t stagger in your preferred direction. Not sure why you find it unbelievable that a person who beat him for an extended period of time on the ground would not do the same while he’s standing up. He said they struggled with each other after he was punched in the nose.

> [@DragonAsh](#):
>
> And that’s just some of the major ones off the top of my head.

So far you’ve got absolutely nothing. All the evidence, phone calls and witnesses line up with where he said he was and where he came from. The original prosecutor did not indict him. After public protests a politically appointed prosecutor bypasses a grand jury to indict him based on “new information” which was Martin’s girlfriends phone call. The same information that they stalled giving to the defense.

Main witness caught in a lie under oath? So now exactly why should anyone believe her story about a cell phone conversation?

No doubt the prosecution will battle to hide this from the jury during the trial. They’ll find some excuse that it isn’t relevant to the case. The witness isn’t on trial. yada yada

I’m glad that Z’s lawyers are skipping the Stand Your Ground hearing. One article said he’s saving it for a possible civil trial? Can someone explain how this works??

Another problem they have is there are 2 DD interview tapes. The first one is apparently a rehearsal tape, why would they even need that, and of clearer quality, and the second one is hard to make out, perhaps intentionally, but the two tapes vary.

DeeDee, Trayvon’s alleged, though not really, girlfriend. By the way, Serino has lawyered up, as has Crump, and Matt Guttman, who was there when DeeDee told her tale. Something might be about to hit the fan.

It’s perhaps a stretch to say he is shown to be a liar about money, but he didn’t demonstrate a particular commitment to transparency…

However, whether he lied or not then is irrelevant to this trial, but the claim that the main witness (apart from Zimmerman himself) lied to the police in her statement is massively relevant, and could possibly lead to the trial collapsing before it begins.

Huh? How in the hell does waiving the Stand Your Ground hearing help Zimmerman’s case?

Zimmerman obviously doesn’t want to take the inevitable beating from prosecution by testifying in an immunity hearing. Plus, everything he could say in that hearing could be then used against him later at trial.

If Zimmerman was a halfway credible defendant with a halfway decent case for self-defense, he’d be a fool to pass up a grab for immunity. But he lacks credibility and his case is weak. Good for him recognizing this already and saving Florida taxpayers some coin.

Like Zimmerman essentially admitting that the prosecution him by his balls? Dude, that already happened.
