Marvel Movies or DC Movies

Alicia Silverstone performing her entire role naked wouldn’t have improved that movie, it was that bad.

Well, I would agree, but… parties and drinking games! Hilarious Internet Reviews!

BAT CREDIT CARD!!!

Great thread.

Howard the Duck though isn’t exactly an iconic character on par with Batman so I think it gets a pass. And it had Lea Thompson in panties so it wins.

Marvel are now making better movies though that’s a relatively new phenomenon as has been pointed out.

Just one point for Snyder’s Watchmen movie but having the bombs made to appear to be the work of Dr. Manhattan made more sense to me then physic squids. YMMV.

Yeah, I’ve always preferred DC’s characters, for the most part. I didn’t start regularly reading comics until I was an adult (I hilariously contracted chicken pox at 21 and I didn’t have a television at my apartment, so my sister went out and bought me a big stack of comic books to give me something to do while I couldn’t go to work, and I was hooked). What I grew up on was the Superfriends Saturday morning cartoon in the 1970s, which probably explains why many of my favorite superheroes, to this day, are second-stringers like The Atom and Plastic Man, along with Green Lantern and The Flash. My entire childhood experience with Marvel characters was that mute Spider-Man who showed up now and then on The Electric Company, and some random issue of Fantastic Four.

But the movies of the last several years? Marvel all the way. Marvel hasn’t forgotten that comic books are supposed to be fun. I was never a Batman fan while I was collecting comics, and I’ve not been happy with DC trying to give their other characters the Batman treatment.

I was gonna say that the best part of that movie was Alicia Silverstone’s ass wrapped in skin-tight leather (or whatever her costume was made of).

Yep. Almost made the film watchable.

Dean Cain was pretty good as a post-crisis sort of Supes (with Clark being cool instead of faking being a spaz, which was mainly what Reeve did so well with the role)

Supposedly, she had weight problems at the time and was digitally “slimmed.” For my part, I was just dismayed that they put nipples on everyone in that movie except for the two characters I wanted to see them on.

You could always throw in a couple Spider-Man movies, too. And a couple X-men movies. But most people discount all of these since they weren’t made by Marvel.

But, then, what movies were actually made by DC?

Warner Brothers, who own DC Comics, has produced
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman & Robin
Steel
Catwoman
Constantine
Batman Begins
V for Vendetta
Superman Returns
The Dark Knight
Watchmen
The Losers
Jonah Hex
Green Lantern
The Dark Knight Rises
Man of Steel
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

and a bunch of upcoming films.

Yes, it’s not similar to Marvel Studios, Warner Brothers just owns those valuable IP’s, but still. They’re there and if they wanted tight control like Marvel has with their characters, I’m sure WB could weld that control.

So about four that are almost always considered good, and all about Batman. Then maybe a couple more that some people like. Not good odds for them, then.
