Very sorry to hear this. I believe she’s been in very poor health for quite a while, so it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. ---

Those of you who dislike Fox might get a kick out of this, from the Fox News website: Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary Dead at 63 _The band’s publicist, Heather Lylis, says Travers died at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut on Wednesday. She was 72 and had battled leukemia for several years._ 😃 ---

This is too bad. I loved PP&M; they got me through the musical wasteland of the early 60s until the Beatles came along, and remained one of my favorite acts until their breakup. I saw them three times; they did great shows. They were a manufactured act, brought together by Albert Grossman, I believe, but they turned out to be the real deal. I loved their interpretations of folk songs, my favorite possible being their bittersweet rendition of “Gilgarry Mountain,” usually sung as a rowdy drinking song. And Mary had a lovely voice and an equally lovely stage presence. Yeah, this is sad news. ---
