Thank God for the link. Otherwise the issue of why Aussie’s would go bananas over a Danish royal is peculiar.

Being part Norwegian, all I can think is: “Great, just what we need, another Dane.”

Good grief! I read the title and immediately thought someone was talking about the Blessed Virgin producing an heir to the throne of Israel! Guess I’ve been on SDMB too much, lately

That was exactly my thought.

Of course, my mind immediately skipped to the Blessed Virgin-toasted cheese sandwich, and how the heck _she’d_ produce an heir.

I’m such a heretic. 😃

Good for them!
Did she become a Danish Citizen or is she a dually?

Will their son be a dually?

Gee, I didn’t even know she was pregnant. I missed their wedding by a couple of days, and boy was I happy about that. It seemed that every publication in Denmark had a constitutional obligation to print news about the wedding for weeks.

Anyway, meh! We people in the new world do not understand all this brouhaha about royals. Silly people those Europeans.

Don’t see what’s “silly” about it. She had a baby, not a purple people eater.

I was at the Slip Inn last week. It’s still bizarre to think that the guy she met there and gave her phone number to turned out to be the future King of Denmark.

I agree. The greatest and most legitimate of kings were those who were able to raise themselves to that postition though their own strength, not simply having the fortune to be born into it. Now if you’ll excuse I’ve got to go and begin my assult on yonder royal castle.

I’ve come to bring you down.

She’s Tasmanian. She was craving tigers, lions, elephants, buffaloes, donkeys, giraffes, octopuses, rhinoceroses, moose, stoats, goats, and especially rabbits.

If you think that is interesting, check out **this**.

. . .
No, that didn’t work. Let’s try again. Check out **this**.
Grrrr… I can’t link to it, since I can’t find the hyperlink. Dern.
Anyway, I found it interesting that a Princess (forgotten name of African country) met and was romanced online by an Dutch (or maybe Norwegian), and that they are to be married.

Interesting. I suppose that means unamed white guy will be the future king of that country.

Really, she’s Tasmanian? Hm…

I didn’t know she was pregnant either (you know somebody knows about Danish royalty when this thread title means something!). But what I thought was sad was Joachim’s divorce. He was always my favorite.

I lived in Denmark for a year, and one of my best friends was another exchange student from Tasmania. She’s a nurse now. I should email her or something…

I don’t know how the rules of succession work in the unnamed country’s case, but European countries don’t generally bestow the throne on the queen regent’s husband; Prince Philip, for example, or (the most recent example in Spain) Francisco de Asís, husband of Isabel II, who got the courtesy title of King Consort but no more power than a queen consort would have had.

Hah. Whaddya know, you’re [right](http://ghanaweb.net/GhanaHomePage/diaspora/artikel.php?ID=50665). Norwegian dude Sveinung Hobberstad met a girl, Sylvia from Ghana, on the internet and they fell in love. Only when he flew to Ghana to meet her did he discover that’s she’s a real African queen. The happy couple plan to live a nice anonymous life in Norway.

That’s my favorite part…that they met in a bar.

My second favorite part is that Viking bonfires were lit all across Denmark to celebrate the birth of the Prince. How cool.

That’s the one. Looking at the hyperlink confirms I got the corination part right, too. Thank you very much.

Btw, I googled this, but could not find it. Too many pages with “African Princess” being used figuritively. How did you track it down?

I googled for “Dutch”, “african”, and “queen”. When that yielded nothing, I substituted “Norwegian”, and voila!

That’s almost as good as the NY Daily News headline about a meeting between Netanyahu and Arafat:

_YASSIR THAT’S MY BIBI_

Still gives me the giggles a few year later.
