To which, I reply: why not do both? To suggest that the perpetrator should not be executed because it was too easy to get a gun, and because he read stuff online and lacks good sense or a BS filter, is nonsense. Note: I am against the death penalty in all cases, but if he is afraid of being executed or thinks that life in prison is better than death, I don’t mind having him sweat about it for a while. That’s probably cruel. Let me say instead, there are good reasons not to seek or even have the death penalty, but neither of the reasons cited are among them. ---
