On the one hand, I had a moment of discomfort the other day explaining to a co-worker who happens to be a gentleman of color the master-slave relationship between two switches. On the other hand, I recall a moment when our foreman was sitting with the ladies in accounting while he spoke with a die maker about some modifications he needed, “Spread the legs and rip the tits off!” It took a conscious effort for us to stop calling tits (in an extrusion sense) “small protrusions used for identification.” ---

People’s political opinions are far too often, I’ve found, driven by emotion and habit. Seldom have I found a way to convince people to switch parties by the force of sweet reason alone. But I have to admit that stories like this have a pleasant silver lining. I was talking with a relative some time ago who was a lifelong Democrat. She was complaining about a similar story - dont’ remember exactly what is was, just another PC-craziness story. I asked her: “Just out of curiosity – do you think the Democrats or the Republicans are more responsible for zany stuff like this?” Found out that she voted Republican in 2002, apparently in part because she remembered my question. - Rick ---

If we go with your suggestion, we’ll have the primary primary, primary secondary, secondary primary and secondary secondary drives. Some people are confused enough as it is. ---
