# Masterpiece Theater Title?

I have been trying to discover the title of a movie that played on Masterpiece Theater about 15 years ago. I remember there was girl engaged to a young man who faked his own death because their union was an arranged marriage and he didn’t want to marry someone he didn’t love. So he fakes his death before she arrives at his house and then he turns up acting as an accountant, lawyer, or something of the like. Meanwhile, she has stayed at his house with his aunt and uncle and when he turns up he convinces them to play along with his game and eventually he and the girl fall in love and then he tells her who he really is.  
I have looked up the plot description for so many A&E/BBC productions and none of them seem to have a similar story line. Can anyone help me?

I concur – both the plot and the date are about right for _Our Mutual Friend_.
