# Match.com and Yahoo problem

Interesting. I was on match last year, and a few responses claimed that they’d written to me once before - at the time, I thought it was just a standard chat up line to increase the chances of a reply…

When I was new to online dating, I used to reply to all, even if only to say “Thanks, but…”. I figured it was better than leaving someone to wonder. I stopped doing it, because it was perceived as either encouragement to try again, or led to nasty “Who cares - you’re not so hot anyway” parting shot mails…
