I think Gaetz first displayed his new appearance at the Republican National Convention over the summer and he got laughed at it for it then as well. I have no idea why people change their appearance like that and don’t anticipate that people are going to find it funny. I mean, some minor cosmetic procedures can improve one’s appearance while still being subtle enough not to stand out too much but not what he did. ---

What it suggests – probably correctly – is the culture of “white trash”. Which in the cultural sense has nothing to do with money, but with lack of integrity, lack of taste and refinement, lack of compassion, and mean-spirited selfishness. Trump himself is a perfect example of cultural white trash. Matt Gaetz is a caricature of it. ---

Interesting. NOT the big leagues of right-wing media by any means. Maybe he sees it as just a time-fill until he succeeds DeSantis as Florida governor, though. (Senate Republicans, as of today, appear to be bending the knee to please Donald by confirming Hegseth as Defense Secretary, meaning that DeSantis won’t get the job after all. So DeSantis won’t be leaving the FL mansion until after the 2026 election–giving Matt time to put the bad publicity behind him.) ---
