May 5, 1945 - we shall remember.

The youngest are 96…

As teenage boys, did they know they were giving so many a world to grow up in?

A tribute well earned.

The day is not long in coming when the sounds and sights of their battles are but memories of stories told. May we keep telling their stories and reminding of what it all meant.

And oh if only we had not gone right on making more such sounds and sights for all these years…

Don’t think I’ve heard from @Coldfire for years. Glad to see he is still around, and I wish him well.

Also glad @Coldfire is around and I’d forgotten May 5 was the special day in that country.

The combined armies of the USA/UK/Canada/French Resistance - everyone - was beating a path to Berlin that the Soviets ultimately “won”.

History will tell - even if not in the current national textbooks of Texas - the kind of people who will fight and tear down “this wall”. Good people who yearn to be free.
