Ah yes, Mother’s Day. Or, as I call it, the day on which I envy people who don’t have awkward relationships with their mothers. Also known as the day where I can go on Facebook and discover that just about all of my friends except me have the best mother. (So yeah, I’ve been trying to stay away from my Facebook news feed today.) _sigh_ It’s not that I don’t love my mother, it’s just that she wasn’t really the best mother and that our relationship is awkward. ---

There needs to be a goddamn law against those fucking headlights that blind everyone on the road. The vehicle behind me last night was so intense I had to move my mirrors, and tried my best to direct the side mirror back into his fucking face. Jackass. ---

I am watching baseball and being infuriated and repelled by all the fucking pink. The lineup cards are pink. Shit. Don’t throw fucking pink at us, assholes. Pay us an equal wage and stop “helping” us with “our” housework and “our” kids. Maybe not a mini rant. ---

I fell in a parking lot today and broke my left arm in 3 places, My right hand is sprained and swollen (but I can type with 1 finger 🙂 ) and I can’t really use it. I also broke my glasses and have a huge knot on my forehead (the CT scan was ok). I can’t drive my stick-shift car. I can’t get the clothes I’m wearing off. Interesting times ahead. ☹ ---

On Mother’s Day, we have to put our beloved dog down. He had another seizure and when it was over, he could not recover his balance. We decided it was best for him. It had been coming for some time. My wife was with him when he was born and was with him when he passed. He was 16. He was a part of my life for the last 7 years. You could not imagine a dog with a better nature. My mother nicknamed him ‘The Sheriff’, because he would always patrol from room to room making sure where everyone was and that they were OK. My wife and I cried like children throughout. I’m getting choked up as I type this. Goodbye old friend. You were loved and will be sorely missed. ☹ Now, to the fuckheads at the damn Vet Hospital. You suck. We had had another dog put down a year ago (T-Bone’s mother) at another hospital. They saw us as soon as we came in. She went much faster and peacefully. One solitary injection, rather than the three you used, and it was over in seconds. And they did it for less than 1/3 of the price. ---

I’m so sorry for your loss, **Typo**. Losing a beloved companion always hurts. Its even worse when the process is more upsetting than it should be. I just paid way too much money to get a feral cat’s teeth cleaned and a couple pulled. Actually, I don’t think the charge was excessive. Steve had to be sedated before the vet could even touch him, which is rather expensive to start with. Due to the part about him needing to be trapped and sedated, Steve hasn’t had regular vet visits, so blood work had to be done stat (expensive) before his procedure. I’m not sure that was necessary because he was already sedated and wasn’t having a bad reaction AND it increased the time he was sedated which isn’t really a good thing, but I am paying an expert because I want an expert’s knowledge. I did get to cuddle him for a little while. Like **Helena330’s** kitty, Steve did seem to enjoy the cuddles, I heard some purrs, but I’m sure that was just the drugs speaking. 3 teeth pulled, and I feel like a very bad cat owner. That’s just my guilt speaking, I dealt with the problem as soon as I saw that there was one. Heavy sedation on a yearly basis isn’t a good thing for any animal. For the most part, Steve has a very good life for a feral who would rather eat my face off than get his ears scratched. I still feel very bad about this. ---

I still feel very bad about this. Cats can be strange. Our neighbour cat is a feral rescue but is incredibly affectionate. He will flop onto his back to make it easier for us to rub his belly, and is quite happy to be picked up and cuddled. (He also gets very demanding if he feels it’s time for more kitty treats.) ---

My neighbor’s cat was rescued off the street when he was a tiny kitten. He was always super cuddly and affectionate. In his prime, he was plump enough that he had trouble rolling over…so he would flop down on his side and sort of lift two legs up, inviting you to rub his belly. If you did manage to do something he didn’t like – trying to pick him up, for instance – he would pop you with one paw, claws retracted. My pit for today: finally learned that the little shitstain who tried to kick down my door last year basically got off with some community service time. His parents weren’t forced to pay anything. :mad: On the upside, I am very happy with my new insurance company. ---

From one of the case studies in a course I’m taking: “the transportation was performed by personnel highly trained in defense and healthcare”. I want to believe it was a matter of the reporter being quoted getting paid by the letter, and not of some notion that writing “military medical personnel” might make his hands fall off :rolleyes: or worse, lead to some people realize that the Spanish armed forces (in this case, the Air Force) actually _do_ things.
