The article and headline are deliberately deceptive. It’s very clear when one reads the full story that Rudolph is saying she felt humiliated in the moment because of the circumstance. She doesn’t bash David Letterman at all, and her point was not to do so, but to talk about how at the time she didn’t feel like she could speak up.
Maya Rudoph is a veteran and a professional; there’s a reason people keep giving her work. She’s not going to go berzerk over some minor thing Letterman apologized for.
If you watch the original video, it kind of sounds to me like Letterman knew her name just fine but that he inserted an “ah” sound, and inadvertently glided it into “Maya.” It was just an accident and I can understand why a young actress making her first appearance on the biggest talk show in the land would be embarrassed, but also realize Letterman hadn’t wanted to do that.
FWIW, IMDB shows that was Maya Rudolph’s only appearance on Letterman, although she only made four appearances total with Jay Leno. She’s more of a “Late Late” guest (Fallon, Myers, Corden, etc.)
