As a former broadcaster. I don’t know why any radio station would want to use those calls. The TV WKRP was a joke of a station, infested with talents who were lunatics, shady sales people and incompetent management. Not unlike many of the radio stations I worked for, starting in 1971. But seriously, it’s been almost 50 years since that sitcom has been on TV, and it was never that popular, so what’s the point of the connection in 2026? By the way, there is an actual (and very old) Cincinnati radio station with the calls WKR **C** , sharing the calls with a sister TV station. ---

But, CBS moved the show’s time slot repeatedly over the course of its run, which undoubtedly didn’t help it build an audience. That said, yes, we’re now 40+ years removed from the show’s first run, and to the extent that anyone fondly remembers the show, they’re likely going to be in their late 50s or older now. If the callsign is used for an oldies or classic rock station, it’d seem to be the right audience. ---
