# Mayweather v Pacquiao - what's happening?

Is anyone following the Mayweather v Pac fight negotiations? Seems like a right saga. Do you reckon the fight will take place?
ISTM that the drug allegations made by Mayweather are a long way over the line from the normal cut and thrust of boxing talk. I could see them retreating for a bit and maybe taking another couple of fights each, before going back at it. The fight is just too big not to happen - biggest fight for decades.
Here’s the latest report I’ve read - fight has a slim chance according to [Roach](http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content6655.html)
As an aside - there was talk of Mayweather coming to the UK to take a fight with Matthew Hatton if the Pac fight failed. _Matthew_ Hatton 😛 The gulf in class is hard to put into words - a fight like that shouldn’t be sanctioned. Probably just a load of bollocks, though.

Mayweather claimed taking blood from him for a drug test would weaken his body. He felt they wanted it too close to the fight.

But I think Mayweather does not want the fight. he has had the speed to avoid confrontation like Roy Jones. But in this fight he would have to battle. As much money as he has earned, his life style may demand this fight.

What I am reading there…
“Mayweather, … , insisted on random tests at any point during the 30 days before the fight”
and
“The Filipino (Pacquiao) yesterday reluctantly agreed to take a blood test for drugs 24 days before the bout”
So \*Pac \*has some bugaboo about them weakening his spirit by taking his blood too close to the fight. Mayweather is willing to give a blood sample up to the day before the fight (or maybe even the day of). I think that is pretty reasonable. Pac has been “compromising” by inching his date closer to the fight. IMO (and since I expect the man will never get a chance to punch me) … his behavior makes him look like a pussy, a user, and/or a religious kook. I’m rooting for Mayweather.

I think its the other way around, this makes Mayweather look like he really does not want the fight at all. Pac has agreed to a blood test INMEDIATELY after fight, this should more than satisfy any concerns Mayweather may have about him being juiced.

Is the concern that he’ll use some sort of drug that clears your system quickly, and he’ll stop a few days before the fight, getting the benefits of the drug during training without being detectable after the fight?
His position seems to be that he doesn’t want the blood taken because it’ll drain his magic joojoo - but he’ll let it be taken a day before the fight, but not weeks before?

I think you’re trying to inject reason where there is none, SenorBeef. Pretty Boy Floyd doesn’t want the fight, so he’s making an offer Pac Man can’t accept.
[Pac is now signed to fight Joshua Clottey instead.](http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-pacquiao11-2010jan11,0,4627653.story) The proposed March fight with Mayweather is dead. My guess is it will never come back.

[This guy](http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/01/mayweather-vs-pacquiao-before-you-blame-floyd/) makes a fairly compelling argument that the fight will happen (just not right now).
