It was an understanding in all of the Reconstruction plans (both Johnson’s and Congress’s) that a state would have to abolish slavery before being readmitted.
The Founding Fathers if that’s how you want to term them were also muck raking lying politicians busy smearing each other in the same manner as today’s politicians.
It’s business as usual and I wish the Democrats would pick up the pace some.
I just love the notion that being asked about policy positions and the double standard of the “I can say lipstick on a pig in reference to another candidate’s policies but you can’t” or even being asked “so how many houses do you own?” (which made her snap at them) is being picked clean. If anything he was allowed to just walk away from his own idiotic answers; I’d have kept on and on in questioning him about the “sex ed for kiddies” allegation and the pigstick dichotomy. Picked clean would have been making him answer exactly what info he gave while in captivity or how many civilians it was estimated his bombing raids killed (fair questions all since his P.O.W. service gets mentioned constantly [even at the DNC]), or asked about the Keating Five (though tis true that loose regulations of lenders is no longer an issue ) or about Palin’s “no thanks to the Bridge to Nowhere” comments or asked a “well, as someone who’s never mortaged anything except for your soul how do you feel you can relate to the crises of today?” pithy barbs. If this is being picked clean then Obama has certainly been picked clean with regards to Wright and Ayers et al and dealt with it a helluva lot more gracefully.
To borrow the theme of another thread, I simply cannot understand how anybody can respect this man.
Hell no. Far as I know, she’s never shot a moose and I suspect her kids never played hockey. Not to mention she probably can’t see Russia from her porch, so she’s unqualified to talk on foreign affairs. Really, you gotta know the qualifications these days.
