I was in a rush to get to work today, and ordered just coffee at the local McDonald’s. They said they’d have to make a new pot, and I told them to just serve me what was in the bottom of the old one. I didn’t mention that boiling hot, major caffeinated coffee was one of my absolute favorite ways to drink it. They threw in a book of coupons. I once went to a KFC and ordered my favorite veggie meal of a serving of potato wedges and four oatmeal cookies. They told me they had a double serving of wedges that was also expired, and would I like them for the regular price? You betcha, sweetie. ---

A nice side benefit is that it exempts me from saving universes. ---

Re the OP’s quandary – my feeling is, “it evens out among the McDonalds establishments scattered over the globe – don’t worry about it”. A few weeks ago, I stopped at a McDonald’s for breakfast: for various reasons, the transaction got rather complicated, and slow, and I ended up with my desired Big Breakfast, but without the hash brown. Not feeling up for yet more hassle and delay, I resigned myself to a hash-brown-less BB. You win some, you lose some… ---

I am a sucker for the Burger King Mocha Iced Coffee and ordered one after work one day. “It’s the last of it – it will be very chocolaty” – Woo hoo! I cried. ---
