Am I the only one who senses a racial undertone here? AD, are we to assume from your use of such terms as “homeboy” and “hood” that the window worker was black? How is this relevant or helpful? ---

Well, of COURSE it’s racism. I said “Boyz in tha hood”, so it simply HAS to be. :rolleyes: For the record, there were four guys in the car, two were black, two were white, and they all had doo-rags on their head and were listening to rap music. The guy in the window was black, and he was wearing the traditional McDonald’s visor upside-down and backward. They looked like they were straight out of Alison Hill, which is the Harrisburg gangland/drug dealer/don’t look outside of your car area. For the love of God, guys, does everything anyone ever says have to be racist? I figured it was an apt description, but you know what? You want to imply that I’m a racist, please, don’t let me stop you. :rolleyes: ---

I used the term because he gave the impression that the worker and the occupants of the car were wannabe punks, in which case they would be “homeboys”, regardless of skin color. I’m from L.A., y’all. It is also immature, and the mark of someone who will only be truly satisfied in a job where he doesn’t have to do anything. And the reason people say “sandwich only” is because they want to cut to the chase without being asked if they want the value meal. God, what a thin skin you have. I’ve worked at Carl’s, McD’s and BK, and I’ve never been offended by someone saying “sandwich only”. If anything, I appreciated it, because the time spent suggesting the value meal (and having it refused) was just as much a reduction of the time I had to assemble the meal, as it was an increase in the customer’s time spent waiting for it. What offended me was this: [Customer frowns intently at tote board]I’ll have…a Big Mac…[pause for rumination]a large fries…[deep inhale]…And a Diet Coke! Me: Would you like the value meal? Customer: Well, yeah—that’s what I meant! God bless the people who would just say, “Number One with a Coke.” If I thought they’d get it, I would sometimes say, “How 'bout Number One with a bullet?” 🙂 ---
