Only three more days before the McRib reenters our lives. šŸ˜‰ I canā€™t hardly wait. Itā€™s not the best barbecue but Mcribs have sustained me since college. Lots of great gastronomical memories. I rarely eat pork barbecue because I prefer beef. I make an exception for the McRib. How often do you order a McRib while theyā€™re available? Itā€™s twice a week for me until they stop selling them. I wouldnā€™t order them that often if they were on the menu permanently. ---

I definitely make sure to visit at least once when the McRib is back in town. My mom loves the McRib and I always make sure to call her and let her know itā€™s back. ---

I donā€™t know if my tastes and/or taster have changed of if they changed the formulation but the last time they came around, I could barely eat them. I used to love them, knocking down three of them after a shift was nothing. Last year though, I swear, the texture of the ā€œporkā€ degraded from ā€œcat foodā€ to ā€œ_used_ cat foodā€. Iā€™ll try one but Iā€™m not optimistic. The sauce though, Iā€™m still a fan. I know itā€™s just corn syrup and industrial by-products. So what? Iā€™ve still got friends behind the counter. Iā€™ll buy the sauce by the gallon if I can. If itā€™s ā€œnot for saleā€, well, options exist. ---

Yeah, Iā€™m of the I _think_ I used to like them mindset, but Iā€™m not sure if it was the ā€œlimited time onlyā€ availability and advertising of them that made me crave them. Some time about ten or fifteen years ago, after yet another year of ā€œwhy in the fuck did I buy this McRib?ā€ Iā€™ve just stopped buying them at all. I like McDonaldā€™s; I just donā€™t like the McRib. ---

For years, mostly in my 20s, I would go to McDonaldā€™s around this time of year for my annual [del]McDisappointment[/del] McRib. Eventually I learned not to bother. ---

I happened to be helping a colleague with her computer when her coworkers offered to grab her something for lunch while she was stuck. When they returned, they gave her a McRib. I gotta say I was thoroughly unimpressed by the content of that box. Four inches of bread, half an inch of meat-like substance covered in sauce? Even she didnā€™t appear to be enthusiastic about eating it. She seemed to be consuming the thing simply because it was given to her free. Anyway, itā€™s available early on the left coast, here. The biggest knock against the McRib is that McDā€™s BBQ sauce is way too damn sweet. ---

Alton Brown did corndogs from scratch. Way, way too much trouble and mess. I bought some frozen ones. Not as good as Sonics, but ok. My SIL, the fine dining chef goes berserk over the McRib, every year. Heā€™ll eat as many as he can while theyā€™re available. ---
