Mechanic seeking advice from other mechanics

I am looking at it about the same way you are. The motor is just a tad tight. Just a tad slow when turning hard to even notice. This particular truck has a very marginal starting system meaning if anything at all is out of norm it is prone to sticking the starter.
Warranty was 6 months. I never really used the truck so wasn’t aware of the problem till well out of warranty.

Only real suggestion i have, if the starting system is that light and there is no option for different starters like a high torque gear reduced one is go take the thing out on a long highway trip, see if it will loosen up enough after about 500 miles.

Is this gas or diesel?
You may very well find a higher load solenoid for a different application, but the problem is will the starter winding and commutator and brushes hold up to the extra amps they are pulling.

I found a 300 amp on line I think will work fine up to 600 amp surge. I think it will do the trick.
