Aaah my childhood was rife with Airplane! quotes. Now even my mom knows them 🙂 “You can tell me, I’m a doctor” “What can you make of this?..Well I can make a hat, or a brooch or a pteradactyl” “Don’t call me Shirley” “The fog is getting thicker…and Leon is getting laaarger” “A hospital? What is it? It’s a big building with patients, but that’s not important right now.” Good to know there’s a whole buncha people here who share the same mindset 🙂 I also did alot of Beavis and Butthead quotes while growing up. They still find their way into my vernacular when watching televison. “These guys are cool - for a bunch of mimes.” (re: Kiss) The future sucks. Change it…I’m pretty cool Beavis, but I cannot change the future." “Ah, manly yes! Starred Carol Burnette as the owner of a vineyard and I remember the hispanic guy from Electric Company worked on her plantation. I was but a wee lad when it came on but I loved it then. ---

When someone asks me, “Whatcha doin’?” when it’s totally obvious what I’m doing, I usually respond with: “Playing Soccer.” (from Buffy) A couple more Buffy ones: “He’s no ball of sunshine!” “Please come again for more purchases!” (used when I’m volunteering at our local community theatre’s giftshop) I also get weird looks from people when I use “Yup, I reckon so.” from The Outlaw Josie Wales. Volunteering at the theatre makes it even easier for me to come up with obscure references from past plays…usually only the actor that actually had the line gets it, but I still use 'em. Some play gems: “Waxing Machine?” (said in a bad spanish accent) “Go get 'em Punch!” “Ulcers make me nervous” “You cockadoodie dirty birdie!” (this is also from the movie Misery) ---

A couple of times, when someone is irritating me, I look at them and say, “You’re making Mr. Fibble very cross” from Red Dwarf. Another from the Dwarf, my wife told me to get out of her bed and I pointed to the bed and said, “This is mine, (to the TV) this is mine, (to the dresser) this is mine, (signified the whole room) all this is mine” And from Raising Arizona… “That sure is one bonehead name” (spoken with the accent) ---

I believe **I’ll buy that for a dollar** was from a commercial that ran a couple of times during something like **The Running Man** or **Total Recall**. That’s ringing a bell for me, but I’m prepared to be told I’m full of shit. I ONCE was actually in a situation where someone spilled a cup full of toothpicks and I very quickly said, “82 82 82” and no one laughed or got it. I highly doubt I’ll ever be in such a perfect situation for it again. I use **You’re god damn right I did!** often, but you better be sure your audience gets it or you just sound like an asshole.
