Mr. Horseshoe and I have been debating the “perfect” dog breed for when we get a dog someday, and we’re in agreement that they are a bit tall (at least, for us right now - house isn’t very big) but that other than their size they are close to perfect.
The red ones are purty … Hope Dixie’s former owner is doing OK. Give him a “thank you” for us, okay?

You admitted hitting your dogs, being overwhelmed by 4, and “That was one of the times I broke and beat the holy hell out of her.”
That was 2 months ago. Now you have temporarily adopted someone else’s dog so you have 5. Did you tell the owner that you beat your dogs, but it’s all better now?
Yes, mods, at this point I suppose this belongs in the pit. I’ll link to it shortly once I’m in front of my computer versus on this smartphone.
Until then, just because you want another pet and use them to fill a hole in your life gives you no right to take care of another’s pet when you have been hitting your own animals. Yeah, that’s threadshitting.

Whoa. _Whoa._ I was all prepared to offer my congrats on the cute new dog, but this. . . that’s awful. Beating the shit out of your dogs on the regular two months ago does not mean another animal should be brought into the picture ☹

I didn’t connect the other thread with the user name. Saving a life is good, _if_ you can provide a good quality of life.
While I have no tolerance for animal abuse, I would like to think that self-awareness might lead to change – get help, do it for the fuzzy ones.

What a beautiful dog. And it’s obvious that her previous owner took good care of her, since she’s up to date on shots and stuff, and is so well behaved.
I’ll bet he feels bad to have left her, but glad she’s found a new owner who loves her. I adopted a cat from a good friend once. Vladimir was already eleven years old. His previous owner was in some trouble and might have gone to jail. So he wanted to be sure the cat had a good home. Turns out my friend didn’t have to “leave”, so it became an open adoption, and when I had Vlad put down this past February we were both there at the vet. I buried Vlad in my back yard and we stood there first, reminiscing about him. I had him for five years, the other for eleven, and it’s not the same without him shedding all over.(Vlad was a long-hair.)
