# Megadeth's new album

Anybody else heard this yet?
I figured I’d pick it up eventually and probably not be thrilled, given the quality of their last few albums. I was tooling around on AllMusic, and looked it up, and they gave it a pretty glowing review. I checked over on Amazon, and the reviewers there seemed to be pretty happy with it. So I went out, picked it up, and gave it a listen yesterday afternoon.
I guess the recent remastering project did good things for Dave’s creativity. This is easily the best album they’ve put out in a decade or so. Mind you, it’s not an old-school thrash metal record, although that influence is certainly there.
So if you’re a Megadeth fan, this is worth picking up. They definitely don’t suck any more.

I don’t go out of my way to buy speed metal, but have always had a soft spot for Rust In Peace-era Megadeth, especially Hangar 18 and Tornado of Souls (what an opening for that song…). If you can let me know how the songs are relative that those, I would be interested…

_Rust In Peace_ is still pretty much the highlight of Dave’s career. The technical expertise is still there, but the songs don’t have quite as many flourishes.

How I forgot the new album is out is beyond me :smack:
I thoroughly enjoyed \*Cryptic Writings \* so I’m pretty sure Dave has been back for a few years. Off to buy it tonight. Thanks for the reminder!

Just told Hubby, thanks for the info!
We saw 'ol Dave & Co. in 2002 in a small venue - really terrific, lots of fun. We were so close I could see his roots, somebody’s doing a great job of keeping the grey at bay 😉 Hubby had a great time moshing. I just had a good time singing along!
