I just listened to the unedited version of the tapes. It gives you a better perspective than reading the transcript. My impression is that Mel thought he was getting some submissive little Russian chick who would clean, suck, and fuck at his whim. She probably came across that way at first and then saw dollar signs and started asserting herself a little more. It shows that Mel has deep, deep emotional issues. I think he thought he was getting into a better place by leaving his wife and hooking up with her. Now he sees that it was a terrible mistake he made and is taking the anger out on her. The guy needs a mentor or somehow else he respects to give him a swift kick in the ass. He seems extremely selfish (which is sometimes present in alcoholics). I feel sorry for him in a way… ---
