[This](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=2650) poster appears to be a guest, but I thought that guess status was only applied to those who were deleted between the ubb and the vb(?) software transition? ---

I did say it was _one_ answer, **Aslan2**. Amongst the other threads I searched up was the theory of email addy changeover and hold-up in confirmation. You may have to wait 'till the admins come upon this for the definitive answer. (Never realised there were so many ATMB threads about “guest” status until now!) ---

I was about to welcome you to the SDMB **Maria** , upon seeing your first post. But then I noticed your registration date _from four years ago!!_ Tell me there is a mistake here somehow. Or at least a very interesting story. If it is simply will-power, then color me astonished. ---

I asked a question years ago, and it is now showing as “guest”. I was on that pi thread, and happened to wan to see it again today and then this thread was at the top of the Most Recent links, so I had a chance to show off what I had just learned. ---

I’d say that thread, **Maria** , was one of the casualties of the changeover to vB, IMHO.
