An old 8-Ender club broom, of course; certainly not mine. My curling club is associated with an old-guard country club, and we actually a dress code. It keeps the hack crack under control. ---

Maybe that’s why the Scottish wear a kilt. Attached at the waste, the butt crack never shows. It could be a bit nasty if they fall ass over tea kettle on the ice. Some Scottish team was competing in Portage last month. You have to include Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan in the places that like to curl. ---

Unfortunately, the three in the Chicago area are all located to the north, within a couple miles of each other, which makes it inconvenient if you live west (like me) or southwest (like you). I curl at the [Chicago Curling Club](http://www.curlingchicago.org/), in Northbrook. It’s the only free-standing club. The other two, Exmoor and North Shore, are affiliated with country clubs. And contra **Elmwood** , it was while playing against a country club team on their home turf that I was subjected to the crack-in-the-hack. Their dress code must allow for butt cleavage! Thinking back to the Fabulous Curling Babes on the 2006 U.S. Women’s Olympic Team, greater “backside visibility” might have done wonders for the TV ratings. But for most of us, it’s something the world doesn’t want to see. Yackity-yack, don’t show crack. Anyway, **pulykamell** , if you’re interested, get on the list for one of next year’s “learn to curl” events at CCC. This season is almost over, but there’s always next year. ---

Perfect timing. Looks like they sent out a reminder of the dress code to the club members.
