The entire movie is a spoof of 1970’s disaster movies, and most directly a 1957 drama called Zero Hour. My husband and I once rented Zero Hour because we were curious and by god the parody was SO CLOSE! We had trouble not laughing though the entire drama because it kept hitting so close to the Airplane! lines (really vica versa). ---

The Zuckers actually bought the rights to _Zero Hour_ just in case there were issues. ---
