I think it’d lead to confusion for newer members, and it’s probably a better tribute that deceased posters are always members, as they were, instead of putting something like “R.I.P.” under their user names. ---

Well, it’s been said numerous times, but yes if anyone is compelled to send a condolence note, it’s certainly not too late! I’m sure his family would be touched! In Askia’s memory, I’d like to say that he was a wonderful Doper — his aim always seemed to educate, to illuminate an issue, to offer good constructive thoughts to the topic at hand. I also made sure to read any thread he started, and if I noticed he was the last poster to a thread, I’d make sure to read that too, knowing that if the subject provoked Askia’s interest, it would surely be of value. Askia, like so many of you reading this, enriched my life. My thanks to him, and thanks to all of you. ---

And how exactly are you going to learn **Askia** ’s mom’s e-mail addy, or any of that stuff? My point was that all we have AFAIK now is her mailing address. ---

Blast and bollocks! This sucks. I always enjoyed reading **Askia** ’s posts and he won my heart with his thread about the dancing lil white boy. I’m sorry that I hadn’t noticed his disappearance before this. He is missed. ---

Damn, I was just thinking of Askia because a recent CS thread asked “does the black guy always die?” Because he obviously created [Askia’s Law](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=5547575#post5547575) AKA, the Sacrificial Negro rule of movies. Damn I miss him, the man knew his stuff and was an asset to this board. ---

Oh, damn. I knew he’d been quiet for a while, but I figured that he’d just dropped out. **Askia** was one of the all-time greats here, and I loved crossing swords with him: I never won, because he was so damn sharp, but reading his stuff was worth being beaten.
