I’ll sit down if I have to drop a deuce and sometimes I’ll piss while I’m down there but even then I typically stand and piss before dropping logs. ---

I once worked in an office with mixed staff (student workers at an institute) and one toilet. After some time the ladies sat us men down and explained why they would not put up with us peeing standing up anymore: even if you take good care there is bound to be a minute amount of very fine spray that’s going to end up all over the place. The resulting habit has stayed with me. ---

I am female: both my ex-husband and current husband pee sitting down. (Their choice! I did not ask them to…) The bathroom smells SO much nicer than when I lived with stand-up guys! ---

These things never bothered you pissing in a bowl? Yeah, they’ve bothered me occasionally. I’ve even said that if I ever get rich, I’m installing a urinal in my house. But they haven’t bothered me enough to _sit down to pee_. Good god. I would’ve thought less than 1% of guys do this - and in those cases it would be some weird S&M thing - but here we are with half the SDMB admitting to it. I always knew you guys were weirder than me. Edit: Not half. Two thirds! ---

If you ever have occassion to pee with the sun in front of you you’ll see that easily. Essentially you give the floor and the lower part of the wall a fine coating of piss. ---

very rarely, and only due to physical incapacitation(or poo failure, as mentioned elsewhere). Too drunk to stand? Time to sit. And one time when i was on crutches i sat. ---

Nope, it never, ever bothered me. I consider standing to pee a superpower. I wish I could stand and poop. Hell, I wish I could run while pissing/pooping. I want a huge yard someday so I can lie in the grass and pee like one of those old lawn toys you attach to the water hose. Then, in the winter, I want to make pee pictures in the snow like a giant Etch-a-Sketch. My dream is to live to be old enough to be one of those senile old men who pee in public against a wall and everybody gives them a pass because they’re old. If a dog pees on me, I want to give that little bastard a taste of his own medicine…while wearing a tuxedo and chasing him down the red carpet of a movie premiere. ---

I’m 6’1". If I’m at someone’s home (mine or someone else’s), I sit down specifically to avoid splashing. If I’m in a public restroom, I use the urinal, since it’s more sanitary and the risk of splatter is quite a bit less. I voted “usually” since I figure I pee at home significantly more often than I do in a public place.
