I need arguments to convince my man to shave down there. I like the way he is, raw and wild… but ONCE, I mean ONCE, I’d like to see him shaved. He is unmoving. I am thinking about blackmailing him, asking to do it FOR ME, JUST ONCE. But I don’t want to go that far. Looking for opinions, thoughts, whatever you dopers want to say on the topic. ---

I wouldn’t do it either. Nor would I ever pressure any of my partners to change their grooming habits, which seems intrusive. It’s not like asking someone to put a ribbon in their hair. You can’t unshave yourself the next morning. And there will be stubble, and then short hairs that tend to go ingrown, before it all comes back. ---

Cut hair grows back. I’ve never cut any hair below my neck. But if I had a significant other who wanted me to shave my junk as much as the OP seems to, I’d be willing to give it a try at least once. ---

I often shave my pubic hair. It’s not a big deal, I’ve never cut myself, had ingrown hairs, itchiness, etc. Quick how-to: Use a clipper with a short guide to shave most of the hair off. Put a fresh blade in your safety razor. Take a good hot shower. Use a lot of soap or shampoo and get the hair really soft and wet. Lather up - I just use soap, but shaving cream is fine, I’m sure. Start shaving. Pull the skin taught, proceed carefully. Clean the razor frequently, it’ll clog with hair pretty fast compared to shaving a day’s worth of facial stubble. Rinse. I don’t know that I’d slap on aftershave but maybe some talc or moisturizer afterwards? As far as convincing your guy to do it…obviously you can’t force it but does he like it if you trim or shave/wax for him? Fair is fair. Or treat him to some extra oral lovin’, I find the sensation of my wife’s tongue on my smooth skin to be that much better. If he sees the benefit he may make this a regular practice. ---

I really don’t think it’s a good idea to pressure someone to make this kind of intimate grooming change. It’s only going to make him feel like you want to change him, and that you don’t really love him as is. That said, there is always room for compromise. I think your best tactic for getting him to agree is to do something for him that is equally uncomfortable for you. It doesn’t have to be grooming. Is there something about you that he would like to change, even if only temporarily? Something he always bugs you about that you refuse to do? Offer it in exchange and see what happens. ---

I prefer “raw & wild” not that it matters much anymore. Leave your boyfriend alone. If you really need to see that area shaved, watch some gay porn, plenty are shaved all over. Don’t blackmail him, that way leads to disaster. ---

Tell him that a shaved pubic area will make him look at least an inch longer. It does, too. ---

Only time I ever shave was to prep for my vasectomy. Other than that, wild & woolly. (I’m 58 - it may be more prevalent among younger men.) ---

If my sweetums asked for me to shave…sure! I’ll try it! What’s the harm? A little stubble, a little itch? I shave my face every day (or so) so it’s not like a major surgical operation. My mum and both sisters shave their armpits and legs. Any guy who balks at shaving his pubies, especially just the once as an experiment, is being wimpy. Now, there once was a nice lady names Lysistrata… ---
