Basically I’ve had the same haircut my whole life – number 3 back and sides, “average length” on top. I’ve had one-off experiments like shaving all my hair off, but it wasn’t to change my image or anything like that, just as a try anything once thing. ---

My hair style is your basic John Edwards-esque side part. So I just tell them off the ears, off the neck, part stays where it is and sometimes give a length if it’s been a while (since they won’t take off two inches if I only say “trim it up”). ---

Most of the year: #2 all over. Summer: #1.5 all over. I once tried a #1. It felt like suede, but made me look bald. ---

My hair cut seems relatively fancy in comparison to a lot of the ones mentioned above. Scissor-cut, approximately equivalent to #6 back and sides, #8 on top, blended. Sideburns thinned out, half-to-full ear length. They’re getting shorter as the melanin slowly disappears from my head from the bottom up. Hair up off the ears and collar. A bit of extra length left on the bangs, which are cut choppy (cannot stand Caesar bangs), which I will tousle with a bit of paste or pomade if I’m not running out of time to get somewhere. Bangs if combed down can be anywhere from mid-forehead to mid-face, but I’ve been going shorter rather than longer for a while, though. While my hair is very fine, it still tends to bulk up after a few weeks; I get haircuts every 5 to 6 weeks to deal more with volume than length… my visual cue is when the hair over my ears starts to form wings from being pushed up and out by the ears and my glasses. ---

Stylist: “What do you want?” Me: “Short and neat, maybe a little bit of a fade on the sides.” Then she proceeds to ask me a bunch of questions that I grunt noncommittally at, and the end result is always a haircut that I’m happy with. ---

Clippers, no guard, every two weeks. However, I have had braids, plaits, and the dreaded high top fade in the past. Those are high maintenance styles. ---

For the past long while (20 years?) I’ve just gone into a Great Super Cuts whatever place and said “above the ears, out of the eyes, off the collar” and they cut it fine. Interestingly enough, I’ve never gotten the same haircut twice… Now a friend of mine says she can cut it for me and I’m kind of freaking out at the idea. ---

No point, as it grows out too fast. The only requirement I have is to hide the family skull bump (really more a flat section) on the back of the head. Oh, and that I can use gel in it without it looking stupid–my hair doesn’t stay put. When it’s particularly bushy (before it actually seems long) I sometimes have my sister curl it to make it poofier and give it shape. It doesn’t actually look like it’s been curled, really, just that my natural waviness reasserts itself. Of course, right now, it’s just below shoulder length out of principle (that I won’t cut it until a certain personal thing happens). ---

I get a haircut every three or four months and tell the stylist to do whatever she wants; she’s the fucking professional. I didn’t go to school for this shit, why should I tell her her business? ---

Somebody at work today said they liked my haircut. I had to inform him that it isn’t a haircut, it’s a “hairgrow”. As in I simply haven’t shaved my head for a week. ---

Used to use #0 on the back and sides blended to a #2 on top and a #2 on the goatee. Haven’t had a cut in six months and and letting my beard grow, so all I do now is shave my neck until I decide what to do with the facial hair.
