I’m single and usually when I travel I’m not hooking up and often travel with someone else, ie share a hotel room. I don’t really have any time or privacy to beat off. The last week and a half I’ve been staying at a friend’s house/baby sitting her 9 y/o. It’s been tempting to stop by my house while he’s at school except that would mean clearing time on my work schedule so it wasn’t worth it. I’d be terrified to do anything at her house mainly because I find there is no such thing as privacy when children are afoot but even if he wasn’t here I wouldn’t want to explain a crusty spot on a towel or sheet I somehow missed. I kinda feel if I was staying at a guy friends home I might not be so self conscious about it, maybe they’d have some mutual understanding. It’s not unsurvivable or anything to go a week or two so I simply never do anything outside the privacy of my home. I was wondering what other guys opinions on these things might be. Do you? Would you if you were sharing a room? in the shower whatever? Would you pay extra to not share a room? Any embarrassment in telling the other traveler(s) you want the extra privacy? What about staying at someone’s house? Does their sex matter? Would you ever consider a hook up at a third party place, hotel or another friends home? My opinion towards other people masturbating is pretty much do what you got to do, I don’t care when or why. If someone was staying in my house and I found out they were enjoying themselves I wouldn’t care. I find women tend to be more judgmental about these things. Men just accept we’re skeevy creatures. Thoughts? ---

You have both a higher sex driver and a much higher level of paranoia than I do. That is a bad combination. I never think about that stuff in advance. If the mood strikes, just go in a bathroom somewhere. It is unlikely you will even know anyone in that particular McDonald’s anyway. Showers are good too. Channel your inner teenage boy. Some people have it harder than that for much longer and they find a way to make it work. If you do pop one off so hard you can’t find it, check your earlobe because she may be looking for some hair gel soon and that is embarrassing. ---

I’m a girl, and I think you should go ahead and take care of business if you want to. Obviously you’ll want privacy where no one will walk in on you, but if you just spend some quality time in the bathroom they’ll just think you’re pooping. Or, take a long relaxing shower. (Or bath. I have less sex drive then any partner I’ve had so don’t think it’s particularly high. I am unreasonably paranoid but that probably because I was an incredibly repressed teen so channeling that inner teen probably isn’t going to help. In a public restroom? Speaking as a woman, we’re not as judgmental as you think we are. We _do_ expect you to clean up after yourself, just as we exert some effort not to leave “skeevy” bodily emissions about. Or at least change sheets, m’kay? On laundry day the “crusty” stuff on sheets/towels/whatever isn’t such an issue, it’s the \*unexpected \*encounter with fabric you expect to be clean that (in my experience) causes the negative reactions. (Of course, I’m sure there are women hung up about such things, I’m just saying, plenty of us _aren’t)_ So…shower time I’d suggest. Privacy is expected, falling water generates white noise to cover any sounds you’re making (unless you’re a screamer when you’re solo), and the surfaces in a bathroom are easy to wipe up/clean. ---

My husband used to spend a lot of time in shared hotel rooms when he worked in oil and gas and I asked him the same question. He did it in the shower every couple of days, or maybe in his truck (a big rig with a sleeper - but he never used the sleeper because they always stayed in hotels). ---
