There is a US Cellular commercial wherein the poor man’s Samuel L Jackson is wearing a suit with short pants. For some reason, he’s outside with a bunch of people attacking punching bags. Anyway…that’s not a thing is it, a suit with short pants? Because it really looks stupid. ---

I’m still not sure if Wikipedia and/or this website is trolling me, because supposedly in Bermuda they pair Bermuda Shorts with a more-formal top [like so](https://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large-5/men-in-bermuda-shorts-carl-purcell.jpg). If true, it is literally the dorkiest-looking thing I’ve ever seen. (The socks seal the deal.) ---

Men’s fashion designers have been trying to launch trends like suits and shorts or suits with skirts every year since the sixties. Somebody is always stupid enough to fall for it and given them the publicity they wanted. It’s standard “man bites dog” news. Nobody else ever cares and the freak fad designs never take off. ---

Otherwise, no. The red shorts at least _sort_ of match in that they’re in the national colors. The ones in the article match pretty well and don’t really look all that strange, even the trimmed one. I guess the one I found was the real whopper since the bottom colors had no relation to the top. ---

Still, it’s the kind of look you can probably get away with only if you are an actual fashion designer. ---

Yes, a Bermuda shorts suit is definitely a thing. In Bermuda. Nowhere else in the civilized world AFAICT. In St. Louis we have a radio personality who for years has been pushing to have an annual Bermuda shorts suit day every summer. His rationale is that it would give us something to talk about during the heat and humidity of a St. Louis summer. ---

[Pharrell Williams](http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1090033.1370036493!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/gallery_1200/pharrell-williams.jpg) has been doing it for some time (this picture is form 2012). And of course there’s always Eddie Munster. A jacket with shorts just seems. . . incongruous. However, I’ll take a guy in a tailored pair of bermudas any day over those baggy, knee length abominations that just wont go away. ---

Interesting. Just seems strange to me from a comfort standpoint - if it’s based on weather - because I can wear pants much longer than I can a jacket and long sleeves. And I wouldn’t wear socks that go with pants with shorts. ---
