Thanks for the good thoughts and well wishes. Also, thanks for the offers of advice. I do appreciate it.

**AHunter3** , self help groups can be a wonderful thing. I know, I got sober through A.A. But they require something that my niece is not, at this point willing to give, and that is the acknowledgement that there \*\*is \*\* a problem. She does not, apparently, believe that she needs help (other than having my sister pay for everything) and a self help group ain’t going to do shit when the person doesn’t believe they need help. I know this from experience, it took me a long time even after I knew that I was an alkie to come to the conclusion that I needed help. My sister and the docs have tried getting her into various programs, including self help groups but she won’t go.

…and I’d like to note that, for a number of the rest of us, psychiatric treatment was a godsend. One way or another, I wouldn’t be here without it.
