mental riddle that 98% all answer one way

Froze up. Pictured a big friendly zucchini. Said “tomat-- erk, CUCUMBER.”

For the D-country E-animal I thought Deutschland and echidna, both of which had been recent topics of conversation betwixt I and The Other.
Echidnas are cute.

Oh yeah? Well I thought of Djibouti and Ferret, but then I’m dyslexic, Djiboutian, pathological contrarian so maybe I’m not the best reference point.

Word: zucchini.
Image: cucumber.

But I doubt that it reveals anything about a person. Current mood, activity, etc. could greatly influence the answer.

The lead-up should involve math, but, rather than using it get to the six/sex homonymy, you should use it to clear the other person’s mind of any extraneous thoughts. So have them do some algebra problems. Then tell them to name a vegetable. Thus, the first thing they think of could be considered to be most important to them, within the context. Of course, the whole thing would still be bullshit.

Alright, I’ll admit it, there’s no shame involved…carrot. :smack:

I thought “Orange” which is a vegetable, right?

re: Tomato, everyone is getting me confused here! I have know it is a fruit ever since 1st grade, and when I think about it in everyday life, I think of it as a fruit since it is so sweet. But then I remember its not what most people think it is, so i’m like “everyone thinks it’s a fruit, but it’s really a vegetable!”

Now tell me who’s insane? :D:smack::stuck_out_tongue:

Potato.

I thought “Corn… no wait, I’ll just say carrot” I have no idea why I changed my mind. Guess I’m a square peg who’s too used to fitting into the round hole.

OK, I thought “potato”, too. You think maybe my being of Irish descent makes a difference?

(Yes, I know they originated in Peru or thereabouts.)

I said carrot.

Probably because I just ate some, and I think they are getting popular because of the “baby carrot” packaging recently.

The QUICK SAY A VEGETABLE! may cause most people to say an easily pronounced vegetable, too. Though it’s two syllables I can be said faster than … say “peas” or “water chestnut” or Banana.

ha. banana.

Squash. That was my first thought, presumably because they’re satanic. 666squash. The part of me that hates these quizzes was crying out to say “Kumquat”. Nothing personal, Gary.

I thought of squash too (is that a veggie or a fruit?) but there’s a 99% likelihood this is because my dad and I were talking earlier today about my mother’s odd insistance that she only eat squash - which she likes - at Thanksgiving.

Here’s another potato-blurter. Say, potato has six letters, just like carrot. So does squash… :dubious:

For the people who want to argue about what a fruit is:
My post at:
What is the differenct between a vegetable and a fruit?
Sweetness has nothing to do with what a fruit or a veggie is, unless you are talking about popular opinion. And the only time I see people on this board agree with popular opinion is when they are arguing with me. In other words, when it’s convenient. And no disrespect to Chronos but pay ye no attention to his triple post. He says an orange is a fruit AND a vegetable. I don’t understand that one.

BTW. I thought of a squash. I know. It’s a gourd, which is a fruit… I think.

I thought of an orange.

Yes, I know an orange is not a vegetable. They sure are good, though.

>> What is the differenct between a vegetable and a fruit?

Um, no, I do not accept the premise. Forget about fruits. I do not care how a fruit is defined and/or if it is incompatible with being a vegetable.

I said the tomato is a vegetable. Webster’s backs me up.

The question I proposed remains: When is a tomato not a vegetable? And even more precisely, when is a tomato not a vegetable and a green pepper is a vegetable? When and why?

Um, I said potato.

I thought peanut

I don’t feel very well

SAILOR: Chambers says a tomato is a fruit…so there

All my tomatos are straight.

Please don’t flame me…

Dammit, I thought of “carrot” first thing, too. Perhaps the number 6 influences this thinking in that the “6” key on most keyboards has a caret symbol “^”, which also resembles a carrot somewhat.
