I have been making that reference for years, and somebody finally gets it! Remind me to send you some cheesecake.
I try to if I remember. If I don’t, it’s no big deal. I realize it’s a Doper tradition, but it isn’t mandatory.
My username is pretty bold already.
I always bold usernames. I think it’s a nice practice.
I always do. Since ctrl+b works it’s really easy.
Interesting. I never knew that. It doesn’t work for me in Chrome (my standard browser) or Safari, but it does in Firefox.
I do. Have since I began posting. It seems to just be a convention here, though; I don’t remember seeing it anywhere else. However, given that I’ve been here over ten years, it’s pretty thoroughly ingrained. I think that it makes it easier to scan a post, too.
Between board names that don’t look like real world names, and the fact that many board names are not capitalized like real world names, I find it much easier to identify Tastes of Chocolate as a board name, while Tastes of Chocolate could be a collection of words.
So yes, user names get bolded.
I do, because if I put a username at the beginning of a sentence, it looks funny if I don’t capitalize it, and it’s just wrong if I do.
etv78, is there a particular reason you’re asking this?
(See? It looks wrong.)
No special reason, just fits the Mundane Pointless definition to a “T”.
I do, and I like it. The only time I don’t is when I post from the phone; PITA.
Or a band name from the eighties.
When some people Really Aren’t All That Bright and pick the Least Original User Name Ever, it’s because they could be overlyverbose, an IvoryTowerDenizen or an ugly ripe tomato. I’ve learned that even though I want to Reply, it’s Implicit if I don’t ask.
You’ve been waiting a long time to post something like that, haven’t you?
