# Merging of user names

When I originally began posting to the Dope, my user name was **AdoptaMom**. Somewhere along the line I screwed my password up, couldn’t access my account any longer and created **AdoptaMom\_II** to avoid confusion about who I was and to avoid accusations of being a sock. I’ve been Adoptamom\_II since that time (2004?).

Is it possible, because my user names are so similar, to merge/migrate the posts from AdoptaMom to Adoptamom\_II?

You need to email **TubaDiva** and get this taken care of. What you should have done way back then was to contact the administrators when you forgot your password and had them reset it for you, but it’s obviously too late for that now. AFAIK, there’s no way to merge two accounts; what they’ll want to do to handle this, I can’t say.

Technically, you can merge accounts in vBulletin 3.5 and 3.6. I can’t remember whether it’s possible in 3.0 or not.

It’s never a good idea to abandon a screen name like this, but since you’ve 'fessed up and come forward voluntarily, no harm, no foul.
