I hear ya. As you can see, I’ve been around for awhile but have almost never posted (only 21 posts total, including this one).
One thing the moderators don’t do here (that I’ve seen on numerous other boards) in engage
directly in vitriol-laced debates. When that happens the solid line between a member and
a moderator becomes very blurred and any sense of rules and decorum goes out the window.
It gets worse when these same moderators start banning people after having first baited
them.
There’s a poetry board where this happens all the time. The moderators will insult and harass a member until the member “fights back” and then they ban the member for fighting back. It’s awful.
I’ve explained my reasons for moving threads in a recent thread on this topic. My answer might help you understand why we do it:

I don’t know about “vitriol laced debates,” but I’ve definitely seen moderators here be condescending know-it-alls.
In fairness, though, I’ve seen everybody here be a condescending know-it-all. (Me included.) It’s that kind of place.
Yeah, and the worst of the condecending know-it-alls is this fellow. He’s practically made a career out of it.
Oh, I agree. It was meant as a compliment.
My Bro was banned on one board for just asking about why they did things one way! In the proper forum for asking about such things. It was deemed a “complaint”, and he was banned.
Moving a thread to this forum just kills it off faster
