Meteors in general aren’t particularly rare, but most of them aren’t very bright. Was it as bright as Venus, or as bright as a very bright star, or a typical star, or a very dim star?

I’d say a very bright star or Venus, but don’t specifically remember. It caught my eye mostly because it was in my line of vision while I drove, and it was in a part of the sky that was tainted with light pollution from the nearby town. There were no other stars visible in that part of the sky.

Here’s some [info](http://www.ajc.com/news/national/another-meteor-reports-come-bright-flash-across-ohio-indiana-night-sky/L3vENpfoadnq47brYAtRVK/) about the Wednesday night meteor.

Note that the “before midnight Thursday” actually means just before midnight _on_ Wednesday.

> Here is an astronomer guessing “around Mount Clemens”, which is far east of my guess … closer to Lansing than Mount Clemens.

The meteorites [are](http://www.wzzm13.com/news/local/michigan/meteorite-hunter-finds-3-rocks-from-michigan-meteor-in-hamburg-township/509477448) [in](http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/meteorite-hunters-find-fragments-michigan-meteor-52472493) [Hamburg](https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2018/01/19/michigan-meteor-flint-museum/1047562001/) [Township](http://www.livingstondaily.com/story/news/2018/01/17/nasa-pieces-asteroid-fell-along-m-36-hamburg-township/1040832001/), around 50 miles west of Mount Clemens in the direction of Lansing. So ha, and ha.
