The game was released here in Europe Friday and I’ve spent the better part of the weekend with it. It’s a great, great game, but I’ve been stuck in the same area for about six hours and I’m in desperate need of help.

It’s the 2nd big cannon protecting the generator on Bryyo. The first was easy, but now I’ve scoured the Internet and looked through walkthrougs and FAQs and they don’t help.
This is the part where Samus needs to grapple three separate levers and pull them back, to release hinges. The flying space pirates keep spawning. All FAQs I’ve read say that I need to grapple one lever, kill two flying pirates quickly, run to the next, pull that one, while still shooting at the first, and then finally deal with the third.

It’s not that Samus gets killed. he dead pirtes keep giving life orbs and missiles, it’s just that I’ve never managed to even come close to grappling the third lever. I’ve tried missiles, hyper mode, but they spawn too fast.

Give me some advice. Is there any trick but “do it and be quick about it”?

I can’t give you any advice other than be fast. I will say that it took me about twenty minutes to get it just right. You’ve already got the basics (hypermode to use the fast kills). I would say avoid killing the pirates until you have to. Better than you can have the pirates focused on you while you pull a lever than you have to kill them and pull the level while the respawned pirates move for the one you’ve already pulled…

That’s okay, I’m stuck on the Bryyo Seed boss. I’ll be able do it, it’s just a PITA for someone, you know, with a life.

And that’s the problem with games these days, they act like you’ve got an attention span…and DAYS to get good an an esoteric skill to proceed.

Metroid Prime 3…Twilight Princess…Pikmin to a lesser extent.

Not only that…but without a readily available walkthrough, there’s a BUNCH of games I wouldn’t get very far through.

This is how I did it, but without the “still shooting at the first”. Grapple first lever, kill pirates then be quick about grappling the next two levers. It can be done before the re-spawned pirated screw things up.

Have you tried IGN’s ridiculously in depth guide? It’s near the bottom of the page; should hopefully get you past there.

I’m off to work, but will try it using the IGN strategy later today.

Thanks

The IGN guide worked like a charm, thanks. The hint abut picking the right position to start from helped a lot.

I found a way that made it easy that I didn’t find in the walkthroughs.

They say “kill all the red orbs, then to after the cavities the orbs were in, using hypermode.” Don’t.
Concentrate on one orb, when the cavity is exposed, blast it with hyperfire, and then do the next. The damn thing keeps collecting red orbs and in between picking up health and missiles, avoiding his attacks, shooting the red orbs on him and preventing him from picking up new ones, I was always a step behind.
But once a cavity has been blasted, even if he collects new orbs, he won’t fill that cavity. So after the first one, there are only two spots on his front to target ASF.
Made it \*a lot \* easier.
